Upper Saranac Marina Update
September 07, 2023
From the USLA Government Affairs Committee
Claudia Braymer, the Deputy Director of Protect the Adirondacks, filed a Freedom of Information Act request for any communications relating to the Upper Saranac Marina’s request to expand their operations. As a result, she received a document outlining areas in which the DEC has found their application insufficient – the same concerns previously raised by a number of the groups following this project, including USLA.
These questions relate first to the marina's proposed increase in the waterfront footprint, capacity and how these projections were calculated, and second, the expected increase in boat traffic from Fish Creek Pond to Upper Saranac Lake - specifically relating to the carrying capacity on Fish Creek Pond and how it will impact safe boating within the channel and the surrounding area.
It is always our goal to keep our members aware of all issues relating to Upper Saranac Lake, and we will continue to keep you informed as we monitor all developments relating to this project!
