Moose Pond Paddling Trip
It was a perfect sunny and warm autumn day so we had to get out and enjoy it. We decided to explore Moose Pond, having never been there. Just past Bloomingdale on Route 3 turn on to River Rd toward Franklin Falls. After a short distance you will see a NYSDEC sign indicating Moose Pond Fishing Access and Moose Pond Rd. which leads to the pond. Easy put in on shallow sand beach. Moose Pond is pretty and varied with several bays and rocky points.
There are several spots where you can pull out for a rest or lunch and there is one sizeable sand beach. The pond has about 3 miles of shoreline. You will see great views of Whiteface, Moose, and McKenzie Mountains which are nearby. We circled the shoreline in about 1 1/2 hours. We shared the pond with several fishermen. Highly recommended for an easy paddle.
